The first in a trilogy of French films, Three Colors: Blue (1993) is written, produced, and directed by acclaimed Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski. Set in Paris, the film depicts Julie, a woman whose husband and child are killed in a car accident. Set free from her family bonds, Julie unsuccessfully attempts to cut herself off from everything she has known.
