Shell pushes road safety

Raising road safety awareness was the aim of two lectures organised by Shell Syria on February 4.

Formula 3 world champion Basel Shaaban delivered the first lecture which stressed the importance of following road safety rules. Shaaban is the UN ambassador to the Middle East for road safety and the first Arab Formula 3 champion.

Traffic Department head Colonel Farouq Moselli delivered the second lecture which referred to the results of enforcing the new traffic law issued in May 2008.

The lectures are part of a Shell program to tackle road safety in the Middle East.

“We are trying to be active in the Syrian society,” Shell Syria general manager Ole Myklestad said. “We want to raise awareness of the importance of road safety among our families, friends and society.”
