BMW X1 makes its local debut
Amid a fireworks display, Bahi Motors launched the BMW X1 model at a ceremony on Mount Qassioun in Damascus, timed to coincide with the FIFA World Cup's Germany-Australia match on June 13. This is the first time the X1, the newest of BMW's X range of sports-activity vehicles, will be sold in Syria. Three engine models are on offer in the local market: the X1 xDrive 28i, which accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 kph; the xDrive 25i, which accelerates from zero to 100kph in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 223kph; and the sDrive 18i, which takes 10.4 seconds to go from zero to 100kph and has a top speed of 200kph. "The BMW X1 is an exciting addition for us in Syria," Bahi Motors Managing Director Bassel Chehabi said. "We expect this model to perform very well as it attracts a younger buyer and it is a perfect entry-level X model variant, positioned below the X3." Bahi Motors is the exclusive importer of BMWs in Syria. |
